The HY3000L is a powerful yet easily portable petrol open-frame generator from Hyundai, powered by a highly economical 210cc / 7hp single-cylinder 4-stroke engine that can produce 3kW / 3.5kVA.
Built for the most demanding of jobs, the HY3000L is an extremely reliable workhorse of a generator, with its single-cylinder 4-stroke OHV air-cooled engine generating a maximum power of 3.0kW.
Key Features
- Multi-purpose open-frame petrol generator: Ideal for site use, commercial use, trade use or simply home/garage use

Quiet Site Generator
Using the latest low-noise engine technology, and an improved muffler design, the HY3000L produces only 65 dBA @ 7m to minimise any disruptions or disturbances to your family, employees or neighbours.
Equipped with a Hyundai copper-wound AVR alternator to keep the voltage output smooth (within +/- 3% of 230V), the HY3000L is suitable for powering sensitive electronic equipment, such as televisions, PCs and laptops, in your home or business. This alternator is also heavy-duty enough to easily handle the harsh demands of power tools and building site equipment. This powerful genset is fitted with 1x 230v 16A & 1x 115v 16A sockets to ensure you always have plenty of space to power whatever is needed.
Low Maintenance and Easy To Use
With low service and maintenance requirements, the HY3000L is incredibly easy to use and has full Hyundai UK parts back up. It also features a low oil alert which will shut down the engine automatically if the oil level drops to minimise any damage to the engine, as well as overload protection which will cut off power if it exceeds the maximum energy capacity.
This generator is ideal for site use, commercial use, trade use or even for home or garage use. Note that petrol generators must never be used inside due to risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
What it can run (often together)
-
Lights: LED bulbs (e.g., 10 × 10 W = 100 W)
-
Internet & TV: router (~10–15 W), TV (~80–150 W)
-
Fridge/freezer: ~100–200 W each running, but allow 600–800 W momentary for compressor start
-
Gas/oil boiler controls & pump: ~60–200 W (momentary surge higher)
-
Laptop/phone chargers: 20–150 W total
-
Microwave (small): 700–1,000 W — usually one big item at a time
-
Well pump / small sump pump: 300–800 W running, but may need 2–3× surge capacity on start
Example “essentials” bundle (˜ 1.1–1.6 kW running)
-
LED lighting (100 W)
-
Router + TV (150 W)
-
Fridge-freezer (200 W running; allow 800 W start)
-
Boiler + pump (150 W)
-
Phone/laptop charging (100 W)
? Leaves headroom for a kettle-sized NO, but a short use of a 700–900 W microwave is fine if you switch other loads off temporarily.
Things a 3.5 kVA unit should not run (or only alone)
-
Electric kettle/toaster: 1.8–3.0 kW (will max it out)
-
Tumble dryer / electric oven / hob: 2–7 kW
-
Electric shower: 7–10.5 kW (no chance)
-
Space heaters / fan heaters: 2–3 kW
-
Washing machine can be tricky — the heater draws ~2 kW; cold-wash cycles may work if nothing else is on.
Important notes
-
Surge/startup watts matter. Motors (fridge, pumps) can draw 2–3× their running watts for a second or two. Keep some headroom free.
-
Voltage & frequency quality: If you’ll power electronics (TV, PCs, boiler boards), prefer an inverter generator or a unit with good AVR.
-
Connection safety: Use a proper changeover/transfer switch and an electrician; never back-feed through a socket. Observe earthing/neutral bonding per local regs.
